Diane Jorgensen

Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Diane came to Omaha to attend Creighton as an undergraduate and has ministered and lived here since then. She has spent over 20 years in health care, initially as an oncology and rehabilitation social worker at the Immanuel Medical Center, after completing a Master's Degree in Social Work from UNO. It was there that she became acquainted with Chaplains and completed the Chaplaincy residency in 1990. Since, she has worked as a Chaplain in acute care (intensive and post-intensive care, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, rehabilitation, emergency, and med/surg), as well as ambulatory care in the congestive heart failure clinic and cardiac rehab, and most recently rehabilitation and long-term care at Maple Crest Care Center. While at Maple Crest, she was also Coordinator of Psychiatric Care, as many of the residents had long term psychiatric illness in addition to their physical needs.  Diane also has a Master’s Degree in Christian Spirituality from Creighton University and has engaged in spiritual direction and retreat work for over 18 years with groups and individuals from a variety of denominations and faith traditions. Diane enjoys directing individual retreats at the Jesuit Retreat House in Oshkosh, Wis., during the summer.

Raised as a Catholic with a German Catholic-Lutheran heritage, Diane was a Catholic sister during her early adulthood, and she has been a long-time parishioner of St. John’s Church on campus. She has always had an interest in various religions and faith traditions, and is intrigued with how individuals answer questions of faith, meaning and purpose, especially during times of illness and crisis.

Diane’s husband, Kim, is a BSN/RN and recently left Psychiatric Nursing and accepted a position as a clinician at Glenwood Resource Center. The couple met several years ago while taking a scuba diving class where Kim was the instructor. They also have two mixed breed ‘girls’, Annie and Tippy, who are an ongoing source of amusement and joy. In her spare time, Diane also enjoys quilting and gardening.

Diane’s office is currently located in Criss II 155e, in the OASA area. Her phone number is 280-3864.
