RhoChi

Fred LeRoy Center

clinic

As a response to a stated need by patients and staff at the Fred LeRoy (Ponca) Health and Wellness Center, Rho Chi published its first brochure outlining the proper use of oral contraceptives in 2004.

In the years that followed, brochures on diabetes (2005), hypertension (2006), and hyperlipidemia (2007) were developed and made available to the care staff and patients of the Center.

In 2007, the original brochures on oral contraceptives and diabetes were updated and refined.

The Alpha Alpha Chapter designed a new brochure on Weight Management that was made available in the Spring of 2008.

The last project completed by the Chapter was a Medication Card that was completed in the Spring of 2010.

These projects are researched and created by Rho Chi members in collaboration with faculty members who teach and practice in the area.  The projects are reviewed by the care staff of the Fred LeRoy Center to ensure that they are culturally appropriate and written in a manner to be of value to their patients.  This long-standing Fred LeRoy Center patient education project has allowed Rho Chi Members to develop clinical skills while, more importantly, providing a health care service to an underserved population in the Omaha area.
