Technical Requirements


 
Minimum System Requirements:
The Office of Information Technology and Learning Resources in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions does not support Apple computer users. If you are using an Apple computer you may experience problems accessing course material.
 

•          Operating System: Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7
•           Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or higher
•           Memory: 1 GB or higher preferred
•           Hard Disk Space: Sufficient to store course materials
•           Monitor: 1024 x 768 minimun resolution
•           Modem: High speed access ( cable, DSL) is required
•           CD-ROM: Required
•           Sound Card: Ability to hear audio clips
•           Printer: Required
•           Plug-ins: RealPlayer for audio and video clips, Adobe Acrobat Reader for PDF files
            (Free download http://www.adobe.com)
•           Browser minimum of Internet Explorer 7.0 or FireFox 3.05

Internet Service Provider
Students are responsible for obtaining their own Internet service provider for Internet access from home. High-speed/broadband Internet connections through a cable modem or digital subscriber line (DSL) are required.  Satellite service in rural areas to obtain a high speed Internet connection is also acceptable. A dial-up Internet connection is not acceptable and America Online (AOL) as a service provider is not supported by OLAT, AOL users encountering problems accessing course materials will be asked to find another ISP before OLAT is able to provide support. Please contact OLAT if you have further questions

 
Email
 
All students are required to use Creighton's email for course work and communications with the School.  Your email address and information for accessing it will be sent to you by the Office of Academic and Student Affairs.
 
 
 
Computing Technology Skill Set
 
 You must be able to preform the following:
 
•          Basic computer skills
 
o         Use left and right mouse buttons
o         Startup and shut down a computer
o         Save files to media (e.g.flash drive)
o         Type using a standard computer keyboard
o         Delete files and folders from your hard drive and/or flash drive
 
•          Microsoft Word
o         Create and save a document using Word
o         Open an existing document
o         Use the spell check feature
o         Highlight text for changes in format or style
o         Copy and paste text within a document
o         Change page set up options
o         Print a document
o         Save and organize files into folders and subfolders
 
•          Microsoft PowerPoint
o         Download a PowerPoint presentation and save it to your hard drive
o         Open an existing presentation
o         Print a presentation with 3 or 6 slides per page
 
•          Web Browser
o         Enter a URL in the address area
o         Use the refresh and home functions
o         Use the back and forward buttons to navigate pages
o         Use a search engine to locate information on the Internet
o         Participate in an online chat or discussion board
 
•          Email
o         Send and receive email
o         Send and receive email attachments
o         Open email attachments
