Academic Advising

Each student in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions is assigned an academic  advisor. Academic advisors are extremely important individuals, as they are available to help the student not only with course registration, but also to provide academic counseling and assist with professional career planning. The student must meet with his/her advisor each semester to discuss academic progress and to obtain the PIN number required to register for classes.  The advisor’s signature is required to initiate adds/drops or other registration changes. Students are strongly encouraged to make contact at other times to keep their advisors apprised of academic problems and/or successes, and to develop a strong professional rapport. The name of your assigned academic advisor, as well as his/her room number, phone number, email address, and pager number (if applicable) will be given to you at the beginning of the orientation session.

Change of Academic Advisor
Each student is assigned a academic advisor upon entering the School. While students generally keep the same advisor throughout their professional program, a change may be made at the student's request. The student is responsible for finding a new advisor. The student should obtain a Change of Academic Advisor Form from the Office of Academic and Student Affairs. The student is to fill out the form including the names of the current and new advisors. The current and new advisors must sign off on the form to officially implement the change. The form is turned in to the Office of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs who will copy both current and new advisors. At this point, the current advisor should transfer the advisee file to the new advisor.
