School of Pharmacy and Health Professions eLearning Committee
Committee Charge:
The eLearning Committee shall be comprised of the Executive Director of eLearning and Technology who shall be the chair; Directors and Assistant/Associate Directors of all SPAHP distance programs and pathways, and the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs. The committee shall regularly review the eLearning Plan of the School; make recommendations to the faculty for its content, implementation and assessment. The committee shall be concerned with identifying eLearning opportunities and making recommendations to the Dean regarding these opportunities and the resources needed to adopt them.
eLearning Definition:
"eLearning in the Creighton School of Pharmacy and Health Professions is the use of technology to facilitate our students in developing the habitual and judicious use of communication, knowledge, technical skills, clinical reasoning, emotions, values, and reflection in daily practice for the benefit of the individuals and communities that we serve."

Current Initiatives:
The eLearning Committee initiatives for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 academic years are as follows.
Assessment and Ongoing Quality Assurance
Establish and implement an ongoing quality assurance process for distance education.
Establish processes for identification of new tools for distance learning
Adjunct Faculty/Mentor Engagement and Development
In collaboration with the Office of Faculty Development
- plan for and offer faculty development in the effective use of mentors/adjunct faculty in the online classroom
- plan for and offer development activities for adjunct faculty/mentors in online pedagogical best practices
Pedagogical Best Practices
In collaboration with the Office of Faculty Development coordinate and provide faculty and staff development for distance teaching and learning.
Establish a library and/or references to distance education publications, periodicals, and research.
Establish a process/structure to identify and disseminate best practices related to distance learning.
Encourage initiatives for collaboration in scholarship related to distance education. Areas of opportunity may include:
- evaluation of distance learning
- exploration of neweducational tools
- services and collaborations
- building effective shared learning spaces and measuring their impact
In concert with the Office of Faculty Development create and offer faculty development activities focused on strategies to facilitate building community of learners among online students
Learning Community Development
In collaboration with the School chaplains and OISSE create and offer faculty development activities focused on bringing Ignatian values and service learning opportunities into the online classroom
· Collaborate with PHPSG to identify strategies to engage online students within the context of course work, with other online and campus students, with student organizations, with spirituality and values focused activities, and other arenas
