SCHOOL MERCHANDISE:
Centennial Watercolor Print: This watercolor was commissioned by the School and Health Professions (guided by a committee of alumni, faculty and staff) to commemorate the School’s 100 years providing exceptional healthcare education. The circular design contains imagery that depicts who we are as a school. Anchored by the School’s medallion, the piece ties the past with the future using images of one of the University’s oldest pieces of architecture (St. John’s) and one of its newest (Hixson-Lied Science Complex). Threaded through the imagery are ribbons in the professional degree colors for the programs the School is currently enrolling. These colors are olive green for the degree of doctor of pharmacy, teal for doctor of physical therapy, and ink blue for doctor of occupational therapy.
The inspiration for the piece is the medallion. The School and Health Professions medallion was designed to reflect the professional goals, aspirations and values common to the occupational therapy, physical therapy and pharmacy programs. The ionic-style columns represent the learning and scholarly inquiry that characterize the academy. The central figure with upstretched arms represents triumph over infirmity and disability, affirms a commitment to human dignity, and celebrates the resiliency of the human spirit. The rays in the background signify hope, healing and the anticipation of positive therapeutic outcomes from occupational therapy, physical therapy and pharmacy-related patient care.
