Ways to Contribute
Time/Talent:
One of the best ways to make an impact on tomorrow’s health care professionals is to donate you time and talents to help them grow while they learn at Creighton SPAHP.
- In Lab: The Creighton SPAHP Alumni Relations Office is working with the pharmacy faculty instructing in the Dispensing and Pharmaceutical Care Laboratory (PHA 486) course in piloting a program that engages alumni as standardized patients in labs. This volunteer service opportunity connects Creighton alumni and students while utilizing special skill-sets that only our healthcare professional alumni possess. Student feedback to this pilot thus far has been tremendously positive, as the impression left by the “personal touch” of alumni taking time out of their busy schedules to contribute to the student’s learning is a lasting one.
- Volunteer as a Reunion Coordinator: Reunions are a great way for alumni to reunite with classmates, renewing old friendships while reconnecting with their alma mater. Creighton needs your help to encourage attendance for the 2007 Alumni Reunion Weekend and make it a memorable and experience for all. As I’m sure you can appreciate, bringing friends and classmates back to campus is no easy task. As a Class Liaison, you can make the reunion successful by
- Participating in reunion committee meetings between now and October 2nd. This can be in person, via phone, email and/or web.
- Making a personal commitment to attend the Alumni Reunion Weekend in October.
- Sending invitations to your friends and classmates with personal reminders of the impact Creighton University has had on their lives and encouraging everyone to come see Creighton today.
- Setting a personal goal to recruit five or more classmates to attend reunion events
- Being a Preceptor: If you would like to be personally involved in preparing student pharmacists for successful careers in pharmacy, please consider volunteering as a preceptor. As a preceptor, you will take student(s) under your wing and give them hands-on experience in your practice setting.
- Giving a Presentation: Share your expertience and experience to a target audience of students, faculty and staff.
- Serve as an Alumni Board Member: Your Board is in the process of creating regional networks of alumni. These networks will help us communicate more effectively and efficiently with all our school’s alumni and present our alumni with more opportunities to interact with fellow classmates and alumni in their local/regional areas. They will enable you to be of service to our school by participating in the admission process. For example, interviews are now required for admissions to the Pharmacy and Physical Therapy programs, and if you choose; you can be a part of the admissions process by interviewing prospective students. Other possibilities include talking to future students about our programs or giving guidance and discussing career opportunities with our current students who may be participating in experiential programs in your local area. In addition, the Alumni Advisory Board has reviewed the SPAHP’s Strategic Plan and their suggestions accepted for inclusion. These are just a few of your Alumni Advisory Board’s activities on your behalf. The Alumni Advisory Board wants to better represent all alumni, and your input matters!

Treasure:
Contribute directly to the scholarship funds that benefit Creighton pharmacy students and allow Creighton to recruit and educate the best health care professionals in the nation.
- Alumni Centennial Endowment fund: Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions invites you to join a special group of alumni leaders that started this scholarship fund in our 2005 historic centennial year. With your donation, unite with other alumni in supporting the School as it renews it’s commitment to help outstanding students – your future colleagues and health care professionals – become exceptional leaders.
- While much as has been achieved, much remains to be done. Merit and need-based student scholarships continue to be one of the School’s more pressing needs. In this uncertain economy when many students want to pursue professional education but financial hardships deter them, scholarship funds are desperately needed.
- You are invited to join with fellow alumni and health care professionals in establishing the Alumni Centennial Endowment Fund, in recognition of the work ahead. It is through your generosity that Creighton students can continue their education and pursue professional goals.
- The goal of the Alumni Centennial Endowment Fund is to establish a resource to help the School’s ongoing efforts to meet the ever-increasing need for student aid. The Alumni Centennial Endowment Fund is essential to the School’s ability to attract and retain quality students and to carry out the School’s mission. Scholarships funded through the endowment will help Creighton School of Pharmacy and Health Professions fulfill its goals of providing support for those students most in need and encouraging the growth of a more diverse student body.
- The rewards of enabling a student to focus on doing well in school –on their growth as a professional and their commitment to their chosen profession -- instead of on financial challenges are immeasurable. Consider your professional commitment and accept the invitation to contribute to the Alumni Centennial Endowment Fund.
